At Taking New Ground we have the incredible opportunity to work with great leaders from all over the world. They are true hero’s of our faith and it’s our privilege and honor to come alongside them as they change the world. I want to celebrate a story from Uganda that highlights how the Catalyst System that we employ around the world works to accelerate the Kingdom growth.
Pastor Elisha: A Story of Accelerated Growth
I first met pastor Elisha Kakwerere in Florida at the Exponential church planting conference (picture bottom left). He had connected with our team the previous year at Catalyst Community #1 in Uganda. We’ve been working with him for two years now. Elisha pastors a church of about 500 and had already started 27 churches in his region when he initially connected with us!
When he attended Catalyst Community #1 he had a plan to start 8 more churches over the next 2 years. That sounds like a pretty aggressive goal! However, his experience at our event changed him. He was inspired, equipped, and encouraged. He felt like God was calling him to more! By the end of our first Catalyst Community Elisha increased his two year goal from 8 new churches to 44 new churches!
Two years have now passed and our team recently completed the 3rd and final Catalyst Community with Elisha in Uganda. Do you think Elisha met his 2-year goal of 44 churches? Not only did Elisha surpass his original goal of 8 new churches, but he exceeded his new dream of 44 new churches! In the past two years Elisha started 60 new churches!

Our team recently completed Catalyst Community #3 in Uganda. Elisha and his group are now dreaming about another 63 churches in the next year. I’m betting God gives him more! Please pray for pastor Elisha and for Uganda. They are changing the world around them and dreaming about planting churches in nearby countries like Congo, where there is a desperate need for the gospel.
