A Life Changed in Nepal

STORY FROM THE FIELD • NEPAL

For years, Sharmila lived with a difficult health condition that affected everyday life. When she and her family turned to prayer, their story began to change.

Sharmila's Story

For approximately four years, Sharmila lived with a persistent health condition that had brought difficulty and discouragement into her life. Her husband was also struggling physically and experiencing significant weakness.

Like many families in the communities where Taking New Ground partners, their needs were deeply personal. They needed more than information—they needed hope.

Years of Struggle

A Simple Prayer

Local believers came alongside Sharmila and her family and prayed for them in the name of Jesus.

Sharmila later testified that following prayer, the condition she had endured for years was gone. Her husband also experienced renewed strength and improved health.

For their family, what began as a moment of prayer became a powerful testimony of God’s care.

The experience left a lasting impact on Sharmila and her family. What they had encountered was not simply an answer to a physical need, but a reminder that faith becomes deeply personal when it enters the realities of everyday life.

Their story has also encouraged other believers in the surrounding community—strengthening faith and demonstrating the importance of local Christians caring for, praying with, and walking alongside their neighbors.

Faith Strengthened

The Gospel Through Relationship

Stories like Sharmila’s illustrate why Taking New Ground invests in indigenous leaders and local churches.

These leaders already live in the communities they serve. They know the families, understand their struggles, speak their language, and are present long after a training event has ended.

Through prayer, compassionate care, discipleship, and relationship, the Gospel is being shared in ways that are deeply rooted in the communities themselves.
