ABOUT TAKING NEW GROUND

A Global History. A Focused Mission.

Taking New Ground exists to catalyze movements of multiplying churches in hard-to-reach parts of the world. Over the years, we have worked alongside ministry leaders across multiple regions and cultures. Today, our focus is increasingly centered on the 10/40 Window, where trusted indigenous leaders are positioned to take the Gospel into communities with limited access.

OUR GLOBAL FOOTPRINT

A Growing Global Footprint

Over the years, Taking New Ground has worked directly alongside ministry leaders in 22 countries, while leaders from eight additional countries have participated in TNG-supported training cohorts.

From Broad Experience to Strategic Focus.

Over the years, Taking New Ground has worked alongside ministry leaders in a wide variety of countries, cultures, and ministry settings. That experience has shaped a growing conviction: some of the greatest opportunities for multiplication are found where access to the Gospel remains limited and capable local leaders are already positioned to lead.

In recent years, that conviction has led us to concentrate more of our resources in the 10/40 Window—currently with significant work in Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh—while remaining open to future opportunities with trusted indigenous leaders in other hard-to-reach regions.

OUR STORY

Our goal is not simply to work in more places, but to invest deeply where trusted local leaders can multiply the Gospel through their own communities.

Investing in Indigenous Leadership

We believe lasting ministry is strongest when it is led by people who already know the language, culture, relationships, and challenges of the communities they serve.

Taking New Ground comes alongside trusted indigenous leaders with training, coaching, prayer, strategic resources, and financial partnership. The goal is not to replace local leadership, but to strengthen it—helping leaders make disciples, develop others, and multiply churches from one community to the next.

OUR COMMITMENT

WHAT GUIDES OUR WORK

Principles That Shape Every Partnership

Biblical Faithfulness

We want our ministry, training, and leadership development to remain grounded in Scripture rather than personalities, trends, or imported formulas.

Indigenous Leadership

We trust leaders who already know the language, culture, relationships, and realities of the communities they serve.

Multiplication

Trusted Partnership

We look beyond individual events or short-term activity toward disciples, leaders, and churches that can reproduce from one community to the next.

Healthy ministry grows through relationship. We combine local ownership with coaching, accountability, prayer, and strategic support.

These principles shape how we choose partners, invest resources, and pursue lasting ministry in every place we serve.

CURRENT FOCUS

Focussed Where Access Is Lowest

Today, much of Taking New Ground’s work is concentrated in the 10/40 Window—especially in Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh—where access to the Gospel remains limited and indigenous leaders are uniquely positioned to reach their own communities.

We remain open to new opportunities, but growth is guided by relationship, trust, strategic need, and the potential for multiplication—not simply by a desire to operate in more countries.

HOW WE OPERATE

Built on Trust and Accountability

Taking New Ground is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to responsible stewardship of the resources entrusted to us.

Our field partnerships are built around clear ministry goals, ongoing communication, coaching, reporting, and accountability. We seek to direct resources toward practical ministry needs—training leaders, supporting travel and coaching, providing tools, and helping local teams reach communities where access to the Gospel is limited.

Just as importantly, we want financial partnership to strengthen local ownership rather than overshadow it. Our aim is to support ministry in ways that help indigenous leaders grow stronger, develop others, and carry the work forward.
